Foi um típico casamento de Outono inglês em cores, atmosfera e ...clima. Confesso que fiquei triste ao assistir a parte dos directos no dia do casamento pela fraca cobertura do casamento e pelo desconhecimento, da grande maioria da pessoas, sobre o trabalho desenvolvido pela neta da Rainha de Inglaterra. Eugenie é afinal de contas uma Princesa e, apesar de estar muito em baixo da linha de sucessão ao trono, faz um trabalho notável com várias organizações que foram aliás convidadas a assistir à cerimónia de perto.
It was a typical English autumn wedding in color, atmosphere and ... weather. I confess that I was saddened to watch some parts of the broadcast on the wedding day because of the poor coverage of the marriage and the lack of knowledge of the great majority of people about the work developed by the granddaughter of the Queen of England. Eugenie is after all a born Princess, and although she is well below the line of succession to the throne, she really does a remarkable work with several organizations that were in fact invited to attend the her wedding.

A decoração da Igreja ficou a cargo do designer floral Rob Van Helden que escolheu flores da época para criar uma paisagem bem dramática e preenchida com cores sazonais na escadaria da Capela de St. George e no interior do templo onde decorreu a cerimónia. Os arranjos foram feitos com flores e folhagem proveniente do Parque de Windsor, reflectindo o tema Outono. Nas escadarias também foram incorporadas árvores liquidambar.
The decor of the church was in charge of the floral designer Rob Van Helden who chose season flowers to create a landscape very dramatic and filled with seasonal colors in the staircase of the Chapel and the interior of the temple where the ceremony took place. Arrangements were made with flowers and foliage from Windsor Park, reflecting the Autumn theme. Liquid Ambar trees were also incorporated into the stairs.

As crianças usaram criações Amaia Arrieta para Amaia Kids. As faixas tinham o mesmo trabalho de arte incluído na Ordem de Serviço, uma criação de Mark Bradford. Sinceramente? Não achei muita piada, mas acredito que devia ter algum significado especial para o casal.
The children used Amaia Arrieta creations for Amaia Kids. The sashes had the same artwork included in the Service Order, a creation by Mark Bradford. Sincerely? I didn't quite like the outfits, but I think it must have some special meaning for the couple.

During several fittings the dress was developed layer by layer, constructing it from the corset and the complex underskirt to the fitted bodice and full pleated skirt. The dress features a neckline that folds around the shoulders to a low back that drapes into a flowing full length train. The low back feature on the dress was at the specific request of Princess Eugenie who had surgery aged 12 to correct scoliosis.
The fabric was designed by Mr Pilotto and Mr De Vos at their studio in East London and includes a number of symbols that are meaningful to Princess Eugenie as motifs. The symbols are a Thistle for Scotland acknowledging the couple's fondness for Balmoral, a Shamrock for Ireland as a nod to the Bride's Ferguson family, the York Rose and ivy representing the couple's home at Kensington Palace (The Ivy Cottage). Peter Pilotto and Christopher De Vos have reinterpreted these symbols in a garland of rope like motifs, woven into a jacquard of silk, cotton and viscose blend."

Confesso que ainda não me decidi acerca da grinalda que foi aplicada em todo o vestido. Achei que os elementos poderiam ter sido aplicados de outra maneira, e talvez não em toda a extensão do vestido (mangas e cauda incluídas). Há fotografias em que não gosto e outras que adoro o efeito.

A Tiara / the Tiara
Eugenie também surpreendeu do pescoço para cima. Confesso que no dia, achei mesmo que a opção de não usar véu tinha sido uma decisão de última hora dado o pesadelo que iria ser domar o véu naquela ventania, mas realmente, para deixar bem vísivel a sua cicatriz, não fazia sentido usar um elemento que ia acabar por escondê-la.

I confess that on the day, I really thought that the option of not wearing a veil had been a last-minute decision given the nightmare that would be taming the veil in that gale, but really, to make her scar visible, it made no sense to wear an element that would end up hiding it.

Do que me lembro, Eugenie foi a primeira noiva real britânica deste século a não usar véu no dia do seu casamento. Em vez disso todo o destaque foi para a tiara escolhida. A rainha emprestou à sua neta a Tiara de Esmeraldas Kokoshnik Greville. Uma peça completamente desconhecida dos cofres reais e que nos fez indagar que mais surpresas a Lilibeth tem nos seus cofres.
As long I can remember, Eugenie was the first British royal bride of this century not to wear a veil on her wedding day. Instead all the highlight went to the chosen tiara. The queen lent her granddaughter the Emerald Tiara Kokoshnik Greville. A completely unknown piece of the royal coffers that made us wonder what more surprises Lilibeth keeps secret.
