Proclamação Espanhola: Reflexão e Momentos / Spanish Proclamation: Reflection and Moments

On such an occasion, the focus goes clearly to the witnessed historic moment, for the meaning and symbolism of each gesture, for the emotion that creeps us  and that excites us and makes us think that history is to be lived, savored and absorbed for each one of us on our own way. Sometimes I think I live for moments like these.

The idea, at least mine, about following royalty is actually that:  Follow fragments of History. More than jewels, clothes, the pomp and glamor that surrounds these people and that often give the futile and useless idea of these institutions, it is moments like the ones lived in Spain today and here in my apartment, that gave me sure that we are all part of something much bigger than ourselves.

This is not about to follow,  admire, speculate and feed rumors about people who we really do not know. It's not about living lives that are not our own. This is all about  to be able to see history happening before us and briefly see a whole nation gathered around something that is not sport, that is not music or any other art form. It's more than that. It is a way of being. It is a concept that even in the revolt transcends us. They say that in Spain there is monarchical people. Today, I was not sure about that...
Today listening the new King, I was hopeful, although I'm not Spanish. When I heard him I did not hear a political party's voice. I did not hear promises. I did not hear complaints without solutions. I felt hope, humility, confidence and belief that reality can only be changed through action. And that effective action will be possible only with renewal. Today I heard an Ideal in one voice! And that is what makes all the difference between a Monarchy and a Republic.

This is not about living the life of others. It is to learn from the ideas they convey us.

Today I feel I could write and philosophize all day. I was inspired. But this blog is not to take too seriously so let's talk about lighter things!

Felipe&Letizia in love
Of all the recent Enthronements, it was expected that this would be the simplest of all. I do not know about you, but I think it was not. Ok, let's not compare with the Netherlands, but the truth is that there have been numerous demonstrations of affection between Felipe and Letizia on this day. If in general everything was very discreet and restrained, there were lots of gestures of affection. Kisses, hugs, passionate looks and hands ... Felipe and Letizia left no doubt about the truly in love couple they are and how they rely on each other.

Balcão dos Dois Reis (e Rainhas)/ Two Kings (and Queens) Balcony
Felipe chegou a chorar. Duas rainhas. Três Gerações. Um dever!
The appearance of the whole family was one of the most anticipated moments of the day. And the whole family was very emotional. Felipe come to cry. Greetings from everywhere here (let´s not mention the akward moment between Juan Carlos and Letizia) and we almost saw the true kiss between Felipe and Letizia that we miss on their wedding day 10 years ago. But they gave us a more restrained kiss that still reaped applause from the crowd. Two kings. Two queens. Three Generations. One Dutie!

Medalha de Ouro de bom comportamento /Golden Medal of good behavior
The Kings of Spain 's daughters lived up to the event. Leonor, 8 and Sofia,7 behaved like true princesses. A day for which they must have had intensive training. Still some spontaneous moments during the ceremonies that made the delight of those present (or watching on TV like crazy people). Felipe and, especially Letizia  were very protective of their daughters who had been safeguarded of public appearances until now.

Estilo /Style

Well, I confess to you that when I saw this first image of morning I did not like what I saw.
Elena very elegant, fine. Sofia also with a very beautiful dress, okay .. Leonor and Sofia dressed the same as would be expected but OMG so damn lovely .. And Letizia, new Queen of Spain wearing a short white dress and loose hair ... WHAT???

Letizia
Well, I knew that the description was a requirement and I wasn't expecting a tiara nor a mantilla, but the truth is that I was expecting something more ... "royal"! And I definitely was not expecting something white. However nothing better than take a look to better pictures annd take some time to think to change my mind. Well, at least part of the opinion.
O protocolo sugeria vestidos curtos.
The protocol suggested short dresses. The ceremony took place in the morning and had no breaks, so changing outfits between places was out of the question, clearly. Looking better, I think the creation of Felipe Varela is beautiful: beautiful, discreet and very favoring. Varela described the clothing as "a coat and dress in white crepe fabric, embroidered with rubies, amethyst crystals, amber, rose and pearls on the top in degradé". The shoes and clutch are from Magrit. The princess has chosen to let her hair down, with a small side braid. As a jewelry her favorite star-shaped earrings by Chanel and the Order of Charles III  pin on her coat.

1) In the absence of tiara, the richness and beauty of the embroidery on the coat perfectly compensated it.
2) There are only two things I do not like on this look. I appreciate the simplicity and description, but I thought the hairstyle very badly managed, getting to be childish (Princess Leonor was with braids also, but he is 8). I think the Chanel earrings, seen countless times could be replaced by a historical piece that reflects the importance of this day.
3) A pair of gloves would have given a divine touch to this set.

Summary: Smart, appropriate, but without the Queen-sparkle we even had on Mathilde. Bad hairstyle.

Leonor&Sofia
The new Princess of Asturias and Infanta Sofia were lovely. To attend the Proclamation of his father, the daughters of the new Kings used the same dresses but in different colours. Leonor, in pale pnk and Sofia in water green. The design with french sleeves was made in natural silk brocade with a waist side bow in the same color, made by the Asturian designers Nieves Garcia Torres and Teresa Fernández Castro. The girls wore Eli ballerinas: golden to Leonor and silver for Sofia. Leonor wore her hair with two side brands and Sofia wore a headband in her hair, like on the abdication ceremony of the 18th, where they were also present.

I want to thank once again the T & T group on facebook, that even with the crush of the social network during the morning shared with me this moment.
