Hoje é daqueles posts em que as imagens dizem mais do que tudo o que poderia escrever. Apenas quero dizer que a pandemia que todos enfrentamos actualmente é talvez o mais parecido com uma guerra, para a maioria de nós. O mundo está virado do avesso, e a memória colectiva de todo o nosso passado e de tudo o que está a acontecer no presente, é mais importante do que nunca para que a esperança, de um futuro melhor para nós e para as gerações futuras, se mantenha viva. No Reino Unido todos os anos, são recordados os mortos em conflitos mundiais. Para que nunca se esqueça. Para que nunca sejam esquecidos. Este ano, sem as multidões que geralmente comparecem a este evento, o peso da memória foi mais forte do que nunca. Recorda-nos a fragilidade da vida humana, mas também a sua resiliência, coragem e generosidade. Este ano, mais do que em qualquer outro, as imagens expressam mais do que tudo o que eu alguma vez poderia dizer.
Today is one of those posts where the images say more than anything I could write. I just want to say that the pandemic that we all are facing today is perhaps the most similar to a war scenary for the most of us. The world is turned inside out, and the collective memory of our entire past and everything that is happening in the present is more important than ever for hope, for a better future for us and for future generations, to be keep alive. In the United Kingdom every year, those who payed the ultimate sacrifice in world conflicts are remembered. So we never forget. So that they will never be forgotten. This year, without the crowds that usually attend this event, the weight of memory was stronger than ever. It reminds us of the fragility of human life, but also of its resilience, courage and generosity. This year, more than any other year, the images express more than anything I could ever say.

A Rainha, usando uma máscara pela primeira vez, marcou presença numa pequena cerimónia privada na Abadia de Westminster para assinalar o 100º aniversário do enterramento do Soldado Desconhecido. O Soldado Desconhecido foi enterrado na Abadia a 11 de Novembro de 1920, representando todos os homens que morreram no campo de batalha ao serviço da Coroa durante a Primeira Guerra Mundial e que não tiveram sepultura conhecida. A Rainha depositou uma réplica do seu bouquet de casamento na sepultura. Uma tradição que várias noivas reais britânicas têm seguido, desde que a falecida Rainha-mãe, na altura Duquesa de York, depositou o seu bouquet de casamento no túmulo do Soldado Desconhecido em 1923.
The Queen, wearing a mask for the first time, attended a small private ceremony at Westminster Abbey to mark the 100th anniversary of the burial of the Unknown Soldier. The Unknown Soldier was buried in the Abbey on 11 November 1920, representing all the men who died on the battlefield at the service of the Crown during World War I and who had no known supulture. The Queen deposited a replica of her wedding bouquet at the grave. A tradition that several British royal brides have followed since the late Queen Mother, then Duchess of York, deposited her wedding bouquet at the tomb of the Unknown Soldier in 1923.

No Domingo teve lugar o tradicional Remembrance Day, no qual vários membros da Família Real Britânica homenagearam todos os membros das Forças Armadas que morreram ao serviço da Coroa nas duas guerras mundiais e noutros conflitos. Com as medidas de restrição, devido à Pandemia, os membros da família real, políticos e veteranos marcaram este evento anual mantendo a distância de segurança recomendada e fazendo dois minutos de silêncio. Digo-vos que de todos os eventos anuais do calendário real britânico, este é o evento que eu tenho mais vontade de assistir.
On Sunday the traditional Remembrance Day took place, in which several members of the British Royal Family honored all members of the Armed Forces who died in the service of the Crown in both world wars and other conflicts. With the restriction measures, due to the Pandemic, members of the royal family, politicians and veterans attended this annual event maintaining the recommended safety distance and making two minutes of silence. I tell you that of all the annual events of the British royal calendar, this is the event that I most want to attend.

Também em Los Angeles, o Duque e a Duquesa de Sussex não deixaram passar a data em branco e visitaram o Cemitério Nacional de Los Angeles onde depositaram dois bouquets de flores, colhidos da sua residência em Montecito, nas sepulturas de dois soldados da Commonwealth que serviram da Força Aérea Real Australiana e na Artilharia Canadiana.
Also in Los Angeles, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex did not miss the date and visited the Los Angeles National Cemetery where they deposited two bouquets of flowers, picked from their residence in Montecito, at the graves of two Commonwealth soldiers who served at the Australian Royal Air Force and the Canadian Artillery.

Mesmo após ter tomado a decisão de se afastar enquanto membro sénior e trabalhador da família real britânica, o Duque de Sussex mantém-se muito ligado às Forças Armadas. Harry serviu no Exército por dez anos, chegando ao posto de Capitão e realizando duas missões no Afeganistão. Ele continua a trabalhar no apoio aos militares, promovendo apoio para homens e mulheres feridos em combate enquanto eles se adaptam à vida após a lesão.
The couple also placed a wreath on the obelisk in the cemetery with the following message: "In memory of the men who offered their lives in defense of their country." Even after making the decision to step down as a senior and worker member of the British royal family, the Duke of Sussex remains closely linked to the Armed Forces. Harry served in the Army for ten years, reaching the rank of Captain and performing two missions to Afghanistan. He continues to work in support of the military, promoting support for men and women injured in combat as they adapt to life after injury.

No dia 11 de Novembro de 2020, o Príncipe de Gales e a Duquesa da Cornualha participaram de um serviço religioso na Abadia de Westminster para marcar o centenário do enterro do Soldado Desconhecido. A data marca o 102º aniversário do fim da Primeira Guerra Mundial.
On 11 November 2020, the Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall attended a religious service at Westminster Abbey to mark the centenary of the burial of the Unknown Warrior. The date marks the 102nd anniversary of the end of the First World War.

No mesmo dia o Conde e a Condessa de Wessex compareceram a um serviço religioso no Memorial das Forças Armadas durante as comemorações do Dia do Armistício no National Memorial Arboretum em Stafford, Inglaterra. Um pequeno número de visitantes foi convidado a assistir pessoalmente, no entanto, devido à pandemia covid-19, o serviço também foi transmitido no YouTube e no Facebook.
On the same day the Earl and Countess of Wessex attended a religious service at the Armed Forces Memorial during the Armistice Day celebrations at the National Memorial Arboretum in Stafford, England. A small number of visitors were invited to attend in person, however, due to the covid-19 pandemic, the service was also broadcast on YouTube and Facebook.

Dadas as medidas de contingência devido à Pandemia foi pedido que as pessoas em geral mas também os veteranos de guerra marcassem este dia em suas casas e tirassem algumas fotografias. Como sempre, os britânicos acederam ao pedido de forma sublime.
Given the contingency measures due to the Pandemic, people in general but also war veterans were asked to mark this day in their homes and take some photographs. As always, the British acceded to the request in a sublime way.
Que nunca esqueçamos.
