Uma nova semana. Um novo post. Esta semana rumamos ao Reino Unido porque adoro quando as nossas meninas se envolvem em causas que lhes são pessoais.
Começamos com a Duquesa da Cornualha que no passado dia 20 de Outubro assinalou o Dia Mundial da Osteoporose com uma mensagem muito especial na qualidade de Presidente da Royal Osteoporosis Society.
A new week. A new post. This week we head to the UK because I love it when our girls get involved in causes that are personal to them.
We start with the Duchess of Cornwall who on 20 October marked World Osteoporosis Day with a very special message as President of the Royal Osteoporosis Society.

A futura Rainha consorte confessou que se tornou mais consciente deste doença após a morte da sua mãe, há 26 anos atrás, vítima das consequências terríveis desta patologia. A Duquesa falou ainda da importância de uma boa alimentação e da actividade física para a saúde dos nossos ossos. Actividade física essa que não devemos descurar, mesmo em plena pandemia. Por último, Camilla realçou a importância de organizações como a Royal Osteoporosis Society que desperta consciência para importância da saúde óssea e do impacto desta doença, providencia informação, aconselhamento e rede de apoio para pessoas que vivem com esta doença, trabalha com o sistema nacional de saúde para melhorar o diagnóstico e cuidados e financia pesquisa na procura de tratamentos cada vez mais eficazes.
The future Queen consort confessed that she became more aware of this disease after the death of her mother, 26 years ago, victim of the terrible consequences of this pathology. The Duchess also spoke of the importance of good nutrition and physical activity for the health of our bones. Physical activity that we should not neglect, even in the middle of a pandemic. Finally, Camilla stressed the importance of organizations such as the Royal Osteoporosis Society that raises awareness about the importance of bone health and the impact of this disease, provides information, advice and a support network for people living with this disease, works with the national health system to improve diagnosis and care and funds research in the search for increasingly effective treatments.

Ainda para celebrar este dia, a Duquesa da Cornualha ofereceu um chá na sua residência oficial para membros da Royal Osteoporosis Society. Todos os anos é atribuído o Prémio Duquesa da Cornualha que destaca um individuo pela sua contribuição no campo da Osteoporose. Este ano o prémio foi entregue a Christine uma voluntária da ROS há mais de 10 anos. A premiada recebeu um telefonema da própria Duquesa da Cornualha a dar-lhe os parabéns.
To celebrate this day, the Duchess of Cornwall offered tea at her official residence to members of the Royal Osteoporosis Society. Every year the Duchess of Cornwall Award is given, which highlights an individual for his or hers contribution in the field of Osteoporosis. This year the award was given to Christine a ROS volunteer for over 10 years. The winner received a call from the Duchess of Cornwall herself to congratulate her.

De uma Duquesa para outra. No início desta terrível Pandemia, e em pleno confinamento no Reino Unido, a Duquesa de Cambridge, apaixonada por fotografia e Patrona da National Portrait Gallery lançou o projecto  comunitário "Hold Still" onde apelou aos cidadãos do Reino Unido de todas as idades que submetessem um retrato fotográfico que espelhasse as suas realidades durante o confinamento. Os registos fotográficos tinham três temas vitais: Ajudantes e Heróis, o Novo Normal e Actos de Bondade. Após 31.000 submissões, um painel de juízes, incluindo a própria Duquesa, selecionou 100 retratos. Se ainda não viram, aconselho a ver. Muitos de nós, poderemos não viver no Reino Unido, mas certamente que todos nós nos identificaremos com a emoção e realidade de muitas destas imagens. Afinal de contas, estamos nisto juntos.

From one Duchess to another. At the beginning of this terrible Pandemic, and  during the confinement in the United Kingdom, the Duchess of Cambridge, passionate about photography and Patron of the National Portrait Gallery launched the community project "Hold Still" where she appealed to UK citizens from all ages to submit a portrait photographic image that reflects their realities during the lockdown. The photographic records had three vital themes: Helpers and Heroes, the New Normal and Acts of Kindness. After 31,000 submissions, a panel of judges, incluiding the Duchess herself, selected 100 portraits. If you haven't seen it yet, I strongly recomend you to see it. Many of us may not live in the UK, but we will certainly identify with the emotion and reality of many of these images. After all, we are in this together.





Os retratos estão agora em exposição em 112 locais, por 80 localidades durante 4 semanas. O Duque e a Duquesa de Cambridge visitaram um dos locais da exibição que está a invadir as ruas de Londres. A Duquesa, ela própria uma fotógrafa amadora, ambicionou que este projecto se tornasse o espelho da Nação naquele que foi (e ainda é!) um dos períodos mais duros da nossa História recente.
Além da beleza do projecto, não me foi indiferente o look da Duquesa. Catherine estava absolutamente deslumbrante.
The portraits are now on display in 112 locations, across 80 locations for 4 weeks. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge visited one of the venues of the exhibition that is invading the streets of London. The Duchess, herself an amateur photographer, aspired that this project would become the mirror of the Nation in what was (and still is!) one of the hardest periods in our recent history.
In addition to the beauty of the project, I was not indifferent to the Duchess's look. Catherine was absolutely stunning.

E talvez, nunca antes, uma fotografia a sair do carro, tenha transmitido tanta classe.
And perhaps, never before, a photograph coming out of the car, has transmitted so much class.
