Primeira Visita de Estado para os novos Imperador e Imperatriz do Japão / First State Visit for the new Emperor and Empress of Japan

Noticia de última hora: o Japão tem um novo Imperador e Imperatriz. A Era Heisei chega ao fim e a Era Reiwa começa. Bem, na verdade isto não são noticias propriamente novas, dado que Naruhito e Masako tornaram-se monarcas há quase um mês na sequência da abdicação do Imperador Akihito, mas eu ainda não tinha tido oportunidade para escrever duas palavras, que quando conjugadas,  me deixam muito feliz: Imperatriz Masako!!

Breaking News: Japan has a new Emperor and Empress. The Heisei Era comes to an end and the Reiwa Era begins. Well, the news is not really new, since Naruhito and Masako became monarchs almost a month ago following the abdication of Emperor Akihito, but I had not yet had the opportunity to write two words, which when combined, make me very happy: Empress Masako !!

E então pensei: que melhor forma de abordar este feliz acontecimento do falar sobre a primeira visita de Estado do novo casal imperial japonês?  Naruhito e Masako receberam o Presidente dos Estados Unidos Donald Trump e a Primeira-Dama Melania Trump na passada segunda-feira. O casal presidencial norte-americano esteve numa visita de Estado de dois dias ao Japão.

And then I thought: what better way to approach this joyful occasion than talking about the very first state visit of the new Japanese imperial couple? Naruhito and Masako hosted US President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump last Monday. The US presidential couple were on a two-day state visit to Japan.

O casal imperial recebeu os seus convidados numa cerimónia no Palácio Imperial de Tóquio. Também presentes o Príncipe da Coroa Fumihito e a Princesa da Coroa Kiko. Fumihito é o irmão do Imperador e herdeiro da Coroa, uma vez que Naruhito e Masako apenas têm uma filha, a Princesa Aiko, e a lei de sucessão do Japão não permite que as mulheres sejam herdeiras do trono. Confesso que esta situação me dá volta ao estômago e que, tal como eu fico feliz por poder falar em "Imperatriz Masako", espero um dia poder orgulhosamente escrever "Princesa da Coroa Aiko, futura Imperatriz do Japão"!

The Imperial couple welcomed their guests at a ceremony at the Imperial Palace in Tokyo. Also present Crown Prince Fumihito and Crown Princess Kiko. Fumihito is the Emperor's brother and heir to the Crown, since Naruhito and Masako only have one daughter, Princess Aiko, and Japan's succession law does not allow women to ascend the throne. I confess that this situation makes me sick and that as I am happy to be able to write "Empress Masako", I hope one day I will be able to proudly write "Crown Princess Aiko, future Empress of Japan"!

Voltando à visita, o casal imperial japonês ofereceu nessa noite um Banquete de Estado em honra do casal presidencial norte-americano. 

Back to the visit, the Japanese imperial couple offered that evening a State Banquet in honor of the American presidential couple.

Como notado pela royal watcher e perita na Casa imperial japonesa Prisma no Twitter houve uma notória mudança de protocolo no que diz respeito às entradas dos membros da família imperial e convidados para o Banquete de Estado. Antes, os membros da família imperial seguiam o Imperador e Imperatriz e os convidados de Estado numa procissão até ao salão onde seria servido o jantar - como ainda acontece no Reino Unido por exemplo. Agora, o Casal Imperial e convidados entram quando todos os convidados e outros membros da família imperial já estão à mesa.

As noted by Prisma, a royal watcher and expert on the Japanese imperial House, on Twitter there was a notorious change of protocol regarding the entries of the imperial family members and guests to the State Banquet. Formerly, members of the imperial family followed the Emperor and Empress and the State guests in a procession to the dining hall where the dinner was served - as is still the case in the United Kingdom, for example. Now, the Imperial couple and guests come in when all the guests and other members of the imperial family are already at the table.

Foi um Jantar de Estado sem tiaras (aguardemos a próxima visita de estado de Trump ao Reino Unido em Junho!), mas podemos deleitar-nos com o estilo da Primeira-Dama norte-americana e com o lindíssimo colar da nova Imperatriz do Japão.

It was a state dinner without tiaras (let's wait for Trump's next state visit to the UK in June!),but we can really appreciate the style of the American First Lady and the beautiful necklace of the new Empress of Japan.

No dia seguinte o Imperador e Imperatriz deslocaram-se a um Hotel em Tóquio para se despedirem, como é costume, do casal Presidencial.

The next day the Emperor and Empress visited a Hotel in Tokyo to bid farewell, as is customary, to the Presidential couple.

Eu não sei quanto a vocês, mas adoro isto: Imperatriz Masako!! Yeah!!
