Que Tiara para a Rainha Máxima? Which Tiara for Queen Máxima?

Eu pergunto-vos agora: Não estava escrito que Máxima seria a primeira da sua geração de Princesas herdeiras a subir ao trono?! Pela quantidade de tiaras que usou enquanto Princesa (e até antes disso) podemos pensar que sim!

I ask you now: It was written or not that our Máxi girl would be the first of the current Crown Princesses's generation to become Queen?! For the amount of tiaras which  she wore as a Princess (and even before that) we might think so!

Hoje apresento as três últimas tiaras das doze usadas por Máxi.

No lote de hoje encontram-se uma peça pouco divulgada, uma das tiaras favoritas da Rainha Beatrix e ainda uma jóia que durante quase 100 anos se julgou perdida.


Today I present the last three of the twelve tiaras worn by Máxi.
In today's batch are a little known piece, a favorite of Queen Beatrix's and also a jewel that for almost 100 years was believe to be lost.

“Mellerio Diamond Spike Tiara"

Esta tiara é o segundo “esqueleto” por assim dizer da Queen Emma's Sapphire Tiara, feita em 1881 por Mellerio dits Meller. Esta segunda versão é composta simplesmente por dez espigões de diamantes gradualmente dispostos em redor de um espigão central e mais alto. Foi vista pela primeira vez em Mabel Wisse-Smit quando ela casou com o Príncipe Johan-Friso da Holanda em 2004. A Princesa Máxima no entanto também já a usou, embora pouco ainda se saiba sobre esta peça.

This tiara it is the second frame made in 1881 by Mellerio dits Meller for Queen Emma's Sapphire Tiara. That's why its composition is limited to the "skeleton" of ten spikes gradually arranged around a central and highest one. It is appeared for the first time in 2004, when Mabel Wisse-Smit got married with prince Johan-Friso of the Netherlands. Princess Máxima also wore it, although very little is known about this piece.

Uma peça que pode parecer estranha para muitos e que Máxima já usou duas vezes.
This jewel could look akward for some of you, and Maxima just wore it twice.

Mellerio Diamond Spike Tiara

Dado que é uma peça que geralmente é usada pela sua cunhada Mabel, sendo a única tiara ao seu dispor  tenho muitas dúvidas que a escolha de Máxima recaía sobre esta peça. Pessoalmente também não sou grande fã.

Since it is a piece that is often used by her sister-in-law Mabel, and it is the only tiara at Mabel's disposal I doubt very much that it will be Maxima's choice. And personally, I am not a big fan either.

"Queen Emma's Diamond Tiara"

Feita pelo joalheiro Begeer, esta tiara foi encomenda pelo Rei Willem III da Holanda como prenda para a sua segunda esposa, a Rainha Emma. Foi uma peça desenhada especificamente para ser capaz de incorporar 6 estrelas de diamantes de doze pontas que Emma tinha recebido como prenda de casamento, além de possuir diamantes que adornam os três motivos centrais e que podem ser substituídos por rubis. A Rainha Emma nunca chegou a usar esta tiara com as estrelas. Apenas a sua filha Wilhelmina estreou a tiara na versão para a qual foi desenhada, e penso que foi a única que usou a tiara dessa forma. Depois disso tem passado de geração em geração, sendo usada sem estrelas e é uma das tiaras favoritas da Rainha Beatrix. Máxima apenas usou a versão em diamantes e apenas uma vez.

Made by jeweller Begeer, this tiara was ordered by King Willem III of the Netherlands for his second wife Queen Emma. It was designed to be surmounted by six twelve-pointed diamond stars which were presented as wedding gift in 1879, and the diamonds which adorn the three central motifs can be replaced by rubies. Queen Emma never got to wear this tiara with the stars. Only her daughter Wilhelmina  debuted the tiara in  its original version for which it was designed, and I think that she was the only one that wore the tiara that way. Transmitted from generation to generation, it belongs today to Queen Beatrix and it is one of her favorite tiaras. Maxima only wore it once, in a  full diamond version.

It is one of the most famous and delicate tiaras in the royal collection.

Queen Emma Diamond Tiara

Uma tiara intemporal que poderá ser uma forte candidata para o dia da Entronização. 

Com diamantes. Com rubis ou ambos. 

E quem sabe com as estrelas de diamante, hoje em dia muito usadas como broches pelas damas da Casa de Orange-Nassau.


A timeless tiara that could be a strong candidate for the Enthronement Day.
With diamonds. With rubies or both.
And who knows with diamond stars, nowadays widely used as brooches by the ladies of the House of Orange-Nassau.

"Queen Wilhelmina's Diamond Haircomb"

Este pente de diamantes em design fringe é um ornamento para o cabelo. Os diamantes do topo podem ser retirados e substituídos por outras pedras. A peça pertenceu à Rainha Wilhelmina da Holanda e foi um presente do seu marido, o Príncipe Hendrik em 1910. A peça nunca mais foi vista e até se pensava que teria sido vendida ou desmantelada, até que em 2010 a Princesa Máxima apareceu com este pente no cabelo nas celebrações do casamento da Princesa Vitória da Suécia. Máxima voltou novamente a usar esta peça de uma maneira completamente diferente na visita a Singapura este ano.


The diamond hair ornament or hair comb is in a fringe-like design. The top row diamonds are detachable and other pendants or jewels can be attached.
The piece originally belonged to Queen Wilhelmina and was presented to the Queen by her husband, Prince Hendrik, in late 1910s. The piece was never seen after that and it was thought it had been sold or dismantling, until in 2010 Crown Princess Maxima appeared with this comb at the wedding celebrations of Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden. 
Máxima showed up with this piece again in a completely different way to visit Singapore early this year.

Quanto a vocês não sei mas eu adoro estes pentes tão em voga nos inícios do século XX. A maneira como Máxima o usou atrás é simplesmente sublime.

I do not know about you but I love these combs so in vogue in the early twentieth century. The way Máxi wore it in the back of her hair was simply sublime.

Queen Wilhelmina Diamond Haircomb

Apesar de ser uma peça lindíssima, é muito pouco provável que a vejamos a enfeitar o cabelo da nova Rainha da Holanda no seu primeiro dia de Reinado.

Despite being a gorgeous piece, it is very unlikely that we see it adorning the hair of the new Queen of the Netherlands in her first day as a Queen.

E pronto. Foram estas as tiaras usadas pela nossa querida Máxima, Princesa herdeira da Holanda desde 2002. 

Dia 30 de Abril, a vida desta argentina de nascimento dará mais uma volta, quando se tornar Rainha Consorte da Holanda. 

Neste dia também poderá ser provável que Máxima use uma das tiaras que até então apenas a Rainha Beatrix usou. Ou talvez alguma que nem Beatrix se tenha atrevido a usar em 33 anos de Reinado.

Para a próxima semana apontarei então as hipóteses de tiaras que Máxima NUNCA usou e que eu considero como fortes candidatas a esta Entronização.


And that's it! These were the tiaras worn by our dear Máxi, Crown Princess of the Netherlands since 2002.
At April 30th, the life of this Argentine born girl will turn again, upon becoming Queen Consort of the Netherlands.
On this day it is also possible that Máxima could wear a tiara, until now only used by Queen Beatrix. Or maybe something that not even Beatrix was dared to wear in 33 years of reign.
For the next week I will point out  the tiaras Máxima NEVER wore and which I believe to be good candidates for the Enthronement Day
