Como vos disse no meu último post no Instagram, simplesmente adorei a iniciativa que começou há uma semana, e que teve como objectivo celebrar a iminente chegada do Bebé Sussex com uma angariação de fundos para algumas organizações próximas do coração de Harry e Meghan. A ideia surgiu nas redes sociais por parte de alguns seguidores e admiradores da Duquesa de Sussex que quiseram ser os anfitriões de um verdadeiro Chá de Bebé Global que se tornou rapidamente viral.
As I told you in my last post on Instagram, I just loved the initiative that started a week ago and aimed to celebrate Baby Sussex's impending arrival with a fundraiser for some organizations close to Harry and Meghan's heart. The idea came up on social media by some followers and admirers of the Duchess of Sussex who wanted to be the hosts of a true Global BabyShower that quickly became viral.

Como muitos de vocês devem saber, as redes sociais tornaram-se o meio perfeito para espalhar palavras de ódio e preconceito. Isto não diz respeito apenas às caras da realeza, mas um pouco por todo o lado vemos figuras públicas (e comuns cidadãos também) a serem completamente chacinadas nas suas plataformas sociais, por causa de uma foto, de uma roupa, de uma acção. O comportamento das pessoas que comentam, muitas vezes sob falsos perfis, nas redes sociais daria seguramente para várias teses de doutoramento em sociologia (e psicologia,certamente), por isso é uma lufada de ar fresco quando nos apercebemos que estas plataformas, da mesma forma que são geralmente usadas para espalhar coisas desnecessárias, também surgem como lugar de origem de verdadeiros movimentos para o Bem.

This is not just about royals, but a little everywhere we see public figures (and regular people too) being completely slaughtered on their social platforms, because of a picture, a clothing, an action. The behavior of people who comment, often under false profiles, on social networks would surely give subject to several PhD theses in sociology (and certainly psychology), so it is a breath of fresh air when we realize that these platforms as easly as they are generally used to spread unnecessary things, also arise as the birth place of real movements for Good.

Esta iniciativa começou no passado Domingo, 31 de Março, que coincidiu com o Dia da Mãe em vários países, nomeadamente no Reino Unido. Inicialmente as criadoras deste movimento seleccionaram três organizações com as quais o Duque e Duquesa de Sussex têm alguma associação: Mayhew, WellChild and CAMFED.

Mayhew é um dos patronatos de Meghan e o seu trabalho incide em melhorar as condições de vida de cães e gatos, tanto em Londres como a nível internacional, proporcionando integração na comunidade e apoio veterinário. WellChild é um dos patronatos de Harry que ajuda crianças seriamente doentes a saírem do hospital, prestando apoio e reconhecimento aos seus cuidadores e familiares. CAMFED é uma organização internacional que luta contra a pobreza e desigualdade apoiando raparigas e jovens mulheres na sua educação ao mesmo tempo que as empodera a tornarem-se agentes de mudança, nomeadamente em países africanos.
Mayhew is one of Meghan's patronages and its work focuses on improving the living conditions of dogs and cats both in London and internationally, providing community integration and veterinary support. WellChild is one of Harry's patonages that helps seriously ill children leave the hospital, providing support and recognition to their caregivers and family. CAMFED is an international organization that fights against poverty and inequality by supporting girls and young women in their education while empowering them to become agents of change, particularly in African countries.

Apesar da nomeação destas três organizações, as fundadoras deste movimento não quiseram limitar quem quisesse contribuir. As pessoas poderiam, se assim o entendessem, contribuir até mesmo junto das suas comunidades com organizações locais, ou simplesmente passar a palavra. O grande lema era simplesmente "fazer o Bem" e criar um impacto positivo, como é tantas vezes referido pelo Duque e Duquesa de Sussex nas suas actividades. Mas depressa este movimento se transformou em algo muito maior que pareceu ecoar nas palavras proferidas por Meghan há alguns meses atrás: "Não temos o efeito cascata, a não ser que cada um de vós seja corajoso o suficiente para criar a primeira onda."
Despite the appointment of these three organizations, the founders of this movement did not want to limit whoever wanted to contribute. People could, if they so wished to contribute even on their own communities with local organizations, or simply by spread the word. The mainword was simply to "To Do Good" and create a positive impact, as the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have so often pointed out in their activities. But this movement soon became something much larger than seemed to echo in Meghan's own words a few months ago: "We do not have the ripple effect, unless each of you is brave enough to create the first wave."

E também aqui o movimento #GlobalSussexBabyShower não foi esquecido. O Duque e Duquesa agradeceram todas as doações que foram feitas neste movimento, confessando-se surpreendidos e gratos com todo o apoio e amor que têm recebido por ocasião da chegada do seu primeiro filho. Harry e Meghan pediram a todos os que estivessem a considerar uma doação para terem em conta organizações sobre as quais falaram em publicações seguintes : WellChild, The Lunch Box Fund, Little Village e Baby2Baby. Curiosamente qualquer uma destas organizações apoia bebés e crianças em situação desfavorecida.
Na Segunda-feira seguinte as reacções das organizações contempladas não se fizeram esperar. Várias pessoas que aderiram a este movimento directa ou indirectamente, partilharam as suas acções nas redes sociais e rapidamente o hashtag #GlobalSussexBabyShower tornou-se verdadeiramente global. O movimento ampliou a sua duração (durante todo o mês de Abril) e seleccionou mais algumas organizações para serem consideradas na altura de fazer doações para celebrar a chegada de um bebé real: Invictus Games Foundation, patronato de Harry que apoia a reabilitação de veteranos de guerra feridos em combate; Smart Works, um patronato de Meghan que proporciona treino e conselhos de guarda-roupa para mulheres que vão a uma entrevista de emprego; Sentebale que proporciona educação e cuidados de saúde para crianças e jovens portadores de HIV-SIDA no Lesoto e Botswana; One25 que ajuda mulheres a saírem do mundo da prostituição.
In the following Monday, the reaction of the lucky organizations was fast. Several people who have joined this movement directly or indirectly have shared their actions on social media and the hashtag #GlobalSussexBabyShower has become truly global. The movement lengthened its duration (the whole April) and selected a few more organizations to consider when making donations to celebrate the arrival of the royal baby: Invictus Games Foundation, Harry's patronage that supports the rehabilitation of war veterans injured in combat; Smart Works, a Meghan's patronage providing training and wardrobe advice for women attending a job interview; Sentebale providing education and health care for children and young people living with HIV / AIDS in Lesotho and Botswana; One25 who helps women break free from street sex work.
O inicio de Abril trouxe uma já prevista separação das contas das redes sociais dos Cambridges e Sussexs, consequência da separação de gabinetes que já tinha sido anunciada. As actividades do Duque e da Duquesa de Cambridge podem continuar a ser seguidas nas contas já existentes de Kensington Palace no Twitter e Instagram, enquanto que o Duque e a Duquesa de Sussex criaram uma conta nova no Instagram.
The beginning of April brought an expected separation of the Cambridges and Sussexs social media accounts, consequence of the separation of their offices that had been already announced. The activities of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge can continue to be followed in the previous existing accounts of Kensington Palace on Twitter and Instagram, while the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have created a new account on Instagram.

O Duque e Duquesa agradeceram todas as doações que foram feitas neste movimento, confessando-se surpreendidos e gratos com todo o apoio e amor que têm recebido por ocasião da chegada do seu primeiro filho. And also here the #GlobalSussexBabyShower movement was not forgotten. The Duke and Duchess thanked all the donations that were made in this movement, confessing themselves surprised and grateful with all the support and love they have received on the occasion of the arrival of their first child. Harry and Meghan asked everyone who was considering a donation to consider some organizations, whose work was publicized in the next Instagram publications: WellChild, The Lunch Box Fund, Little Village and Baby2Baby. Curiously, any of these organizations supports underprivileged babies and children.

* A 3 de Abril a Wellchild partilhou que já tinham recebido £4.500 em doações. Esta quantia vai assegurar 180 horas de cuidados especializados de enfermagem para uma criança com sérias necessidades de saúde.
* On April 3 Wellchild shared that they had already received £ 4,500 in donations. This amount will ensure 180 hours of specialized nursing care for a child with serious health needs.
* A 5 de Abril a CAMFED (que tem-se mostrado incrivelmente entusiasmada com este movimento) divulgou que os donativos feitos até aquela data possibilitarão a permanência de 94 jovens no liceu por mais um ano.
* On April 5, CAMFED (which has been incredibly enthusiastic about this movement) announced that the donations made until that date will allow the stay of 94 young girls in high school for another year.
* A 2 de Abril a One25 partilhou que até à data tinham recebido mais de £2.200 em doações o que assegura apoio vital nocturno por 6 noites.
* On April 2, One25 shared that to date they have received more than £ 2,200 in donations which ensures vital outreach support for 6 nights.
* A 9 de Abril a The Lunch Box Fund partilhou que durante o passado fim-de-semana as doações atingiram os $25.000 provenientes de 12 países. Estas doações irão assegurar 100.00 refeições escolares nutritivas para algumas das crianças mais necessitadas da África do Sul.
* On 9 April, The Lunch Box Fund shared that over the past weekend donations reached $ 25,000 from 12 countries. These donations will ensure 100,000 nutritious school meals for some of South Africa's most needy children.

Quero muito agradecer à @freepeeper, uma das impulsionadoras desta "onda". Agradecer por nos mostrar que não há limites para a generosidade e partilha quando estas são verdadeiras. Por nos mostrar que há sempre luz na escuridão. Por nos mostrar que essa luz vence sempre. Por nos mostrar que não vale a pena dedicar-nos a algo ou alguém, se essa pessoa ou causa não nos torna melhores pessoas. Por nos mostrar o que é ser um verdadeiro Royalista, porque não é só a História, as tradições, os grandes momentos, os discursos, as roupas e as jóias. Não é apenas seguir o trabalho de alguém que por nascimento ou casamento tem acesso a uma plataforma gigante para dar voz a várias causas. I want to thank @freepeeper, one of the drivers of this "wave". Thank you for showing us that there are no limits to generosity and sharing when these are true. For showing us that there is always light in the darkness. For showing us that this light always wins. For showing us that it is not worth devoting ourselves to someone or something, if that person or cause does not make us better people. For showing us what it is to be a true Royalist, because it is not only History, traditions, great moments, speeches, clothes and jewels. It is not just following the work of someone who by birth or marriage has access to a giant platform to give voice to several causes. It is what each one of us does, in consciousness, for a better world with all this information we get from following royalty. Thanks!!
