#Frederik50: Um Fim-de-semana de festa - Parte 1 / A Birthday Weekend Party- Part 1

Nos (raros) dias que estou mais leve, mais preguiçosa e menos preocupada com os problemas do mundo e em como posso eu fazer a diferença, eu pergunto-me o que seria das nossas vidas sem uma boa festa real na Escandinávia?? Eu respondo: seriam vidas vazias, sem sentido e completamente desprovidas de qualquer emoção!!!

Por vezes tudo o que precisamos é de uma Festa de Aniversário na Dinamarca, por razões puramente fúteis, e que ninguém me diga que estou errada!!!

On the (rare) days that I feeling lighter, more lazy and less worried about the problems of the world and how can I make a difference, I wonder what would be of our lives without a royal good party in Scandinavia ?? I have the answer: they would be empty lives, meaningless and completely devoid of any emotion kind of lives !!!

Sometimes all we need is a Danish Birthday Party, for purely futile reasons, and won't accept any reason to prove me wrong !!!

Ora hoje, eu vou exagerar. Vou exagerar em tamanho de post, tamanho de comentários, quantidade de fotografias, videos e pontos de exclamação. O Frederik fez 50 anos e eu não larguei o telemóvel durante o fim-de-semana , por isso desculpem qualquer coisinha!!!

So today, I will exaggerate. I will exaggerate in post size, comment size, number of photos, videos and exclamation points. Frederik turned 50 and I did not drop my mobile during the weekend, so excuse me if I'm going big about it !!!

Após vários eventos e celebrações durante a semana (ver aqui e aqui), no dia do aniversário do Príncipe da Coroa da Dinamarca, acordámos com duas novas fotografias de autoria de Franne Voigt. Numa vemos o menino dos anos sozinho, enquanto que na segunda fotografia vemos Frederik acompanhado com a sua esposa Mary e os quatro filhos do casal: Christian, Isabella e os gémeos Vincent e Josephine. Família Linda!!!!!!

After several events and celebrations during the week (see here and here), on the actual brithday of  Crown Prince of Denmark, we woke up with two new photographs by Franne Voigt. In one we see the the birthday boy alone, while in the second photograph we see Frederik accompanied with his wife Mary and the four children of the couple: Christian, Isabella and the twins Vincent and Josephine. Beautiful family!!!!!!

As grandes festividades começaram ao meio dia no Palácio Frederik VIII quando um emocioando Frederik apareceu á varanda para agradecer aos milhares de pessoas que se deslocaram até ao complexo real de Amalienborg para desejar um Feliz Aniversário ao seu futuro Rei.

The great festivities began at noon in the Frederik VIII Palace when an emotional Frederik appeared on the balcony to thank the thousands of people who had gather at Amalienborg to wish a Happy Birthday to their future King.

Ao seu lado, a sua mãe, a Rainha Margrethe II que liderou os votos de Parabéns da multidão e a sua esposa e filhos que acenavam felizes à multidão.

At his side, his mother, Queen Margrethe II who led the congratulations vows of the crowd and his happy wife and children who waved to the crowd.

Também Mary estava visivelmente emocionada e feliz. E linda!!!!! Mary estava linda!!!!

Ás 20:00 a Rainha Margrethe II ofereceu um Banquete de Gala no Palácio Christianborg que contou com a presença de vários convidados reais, entre os quais representantes da Suécia, Noruega, Luxemburgo, Holanda, Bélgica, Grécia e Liechtenstein.
At 8:00 PM Queen Margrethe II held a Gala Banquet at the Christianborg Palace, which was attended by several royal guests, including representatives from Sweden, Norway, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Belgium, Greece and Liechtenstein.

A fazer recordar o seu casamento em 2004, Frederik e Mary fizeram o trajecto de Amalienborg até Christianborg numa carruagem aberta onde cumprimentaram as centenas de pessoas que esperavam nas ruas, enfeitadas com bandeiras nacionais, para cumprimentar o casal, em especial o aniversariante.

Recalling their marriage in 2004, Frederik and Mary made the journey from Amalienborg to Christianborg in an open carriage where they greeted the hundreds of people waiting in the streets, decorated with national flags, to greet the couple, especially the birthday boy.

Dinamarca/ Denmark

A nossa Rainha da Dinamarca não perde uma oportunidade para usar um grande vestido de gala, de preferência, um vistoso vestido de gala. Este era rosa, em renda e com uma mangas em sino e portanto, com todos os ingredientes. Daisy escolheu a Tiara de ouro Naasut e o respectivo conjunto de brincos. Esta tiara não é fácil de usar para alguém que, como Daisy, já tem os cabelos totalmente brancos. A combinação do colar de diamantes também não foi feliz. Mas adorei ver esta tiara novamente. É talvez a tiara que eu mais quero ver em Mary, quando o momento chegar!
Our Queen of Denmark does not miss an opportunity to wear a great ball dress, preferably a colorful gala dress. This was pink, in lace and with bell sleeves and therefore with all the needed ingredients. Daisy chose the Naasut Gold Tiara and its set of earrings. This tiara is not easy to use for someone who, like Daisy, already has totally white hair. The combination of the diamond necklace was also not happy also, imo. But I loved seeing this tiara again. It's perhaps the tiara I most want to see in Mary when the time comes!

Mary, Mary...Este vestido em rosa blush é um sonho. Os vídeos fazem-lhe melhor justiça do que as fotos, tantos são os detalhes e brilho que tem. Este foi um vestido que parece ter sido especialmente desenhado para ser usado em simultâneo com a sua Tiara-Colar de diamantes, rubis e espinel e brincos a condizer. Fantástica!!!!! Perfeita!!

Mary, Mary ... This pink blush dress is a dream. The videos do it justice better than the photos, so many are the details and sparkle it has. This was a dress that seems to have been specially designed to be worn in conjunction with her Diamonds, rubies and spinel Necklace Tiara and matching earrings. Fantastic !!!!! Just Perfect!!!

A Princesa Marie chegou acompanhada do seu marido, o Príncipe Joachim e do seu enteado, o Príncipe Nikolai que participou no seu primeiro banquete de Gala. Marie usou Elie Saab (via Laura). O vestido é lindo na sua versão em manga comprida. Como Marie o usou, faz-me lembrar um fato de banho. Sorry. A Princesa dinamarquesa usou a sua Tiara Floral Princesa Dagmar.

Princess Marie arrived with her husband, Prince Joachim and his stepson, Prince Nikolai, who participated in his first Gala banquet. Marie used Elie Saab (via Laura). The dress is beautiful in its long sleeve version. As Marie used it, it reminds me of a bathing suit. Sorry. The Danish Princess wore her Princess Dagmar Floral Tiara.

A Princesa Benedikte, irmã da Rainha Margrethe II, resolveu dar-me volta à cabeça ao usar um vestido com uma capa/cauda incorporada e a Sayn-Wittgenstein-Berleburg Fringe Tiara. Foi a segunda melhor da noite para mim!!!
Princess Benedikte, sister of Queen Margrethe II, decided to make my head spin by wearing a dress with a cape/train and a Sayn-Wittgenstein-Berleburg Fringe Tiara. She was the second best of the night for me !!!

A sua filha, a Princesa Alexandra de Sayn-Wittgenstein-Berleburg escolheu um vestido verde(?), de decote assimétrico e aplicações em renda que resultou num vestido um pouco estranho. A princesa alemã usou a sua Tiara Floral.

Her daughter, Princess Alexandra of Sayn-Wittgenstein-Berleburg chose a green dress (?), with an asymmetrical neckline and lace appliqués that resulted in a rather strange dress. The German princess wore her Floral Tiara.

Alexandra,  Condessa de Frederiksborg e primeira esposa do Príncipe Joachim também esteve presente. Alexandra usou um vestido rosa de manga curta que muito acentuou o seu bronzeado. A completar, Alexandra usou a Alexandrine Drop Tiara, uma oferta pessoal da sua ex-sogra no dia do seu casamento.

Alexandra, Countess of Frederiksborg and the first wife of Prince Joachim was also present. Alexandra wore a pink short-sleeved dress that greatly accentuated her tan. To top it off, Alexandra used the Alexandrine Drop Tiara, a personal offer from her ex-mother-in-law on her wedding day.

Bélgica / Belgium

O Rei Philippe e a Rainha Mathilde não faltaram à celebração e Mathilde também entrou para o meu top 4. Um vestido lindo vermelho com apenas uma manga que assentou maravilhosamente bem na consorte belga e nos diamantes das suas jóias. Mathilde usou a Laureal Wreath Tiara.
King Philippe and Queen Mathilde did not miss the celebration and Mathilde also entered my top 4. A gorgeous red dress with only a sleeve that suited wonderfully well on the Belgian consort and the diamonds of her jewels. Mathilde used the Laureal Wreath Tiara.

Grécia /Greece

Ora os primos gregos não podiam faltar, certo? E também aqui houve estreias e Fringes. Pavlos e Marie-Chantal lideraram a parada. A princesa estava discreta e usava uma singela Bandeau.
Now the Greek cousins could not be missing, right? And here again there were premieres and Fringes. Pavlos and Marie-Chantal led the way. The princess was discreet and wore a simple bandeau.

A filha de ambos, Maria-Olympia usou pela primeira vez a Miller Fringe Tiara, que habitualmente era usada pela sua mãe, mas que segundo consta sempre foi um presente para Maria-Olympia quando esta atingisse a maioridade. A filha mais velha do casal real grego foi escoltada pelo seu irmão Constantine-Alexios naquele que foi o primeiro banquete real para os dois irmãos. O vestido amarelo claro de Maria-Olympia não a favoreceu. Atrás seguiram os seus tios,  o Príncipe Nikolaos e a Princesa Theodora da Grécia que usou a Antique Corsage Tiara.
Their daughter, Maria-Olympia used for the first time the Miller Fringe Tiara, which was usually used by her mother, but which is said to have always been a gift to Maria-Olympia when she reached majority. The eldest daughter of the Greek royal couple was escorted by her brother Constantine-Alexios in what was the first royal banquet for the two siblings. Maria-Olympia's  light yellow dress did not favor her. Behind them followed their uncle and aunt,  Prince Nikolaos and Princess Theodora of Greece who wore the Antique Corsage Tiara.

Holanda / The Netherlands

Após uma bem sucedida Visita de Estado ao Luxemburgo, onde Máxima nos trouxe uma grande surrpesa, a Rainha da Holanda resolveu apostar na discrição ao escolher o Bandeau de Diamantes que foi o espelho perfeito com o colar de diamantes que usou ao pescoço. Mas como estamos a falar de Máxima, a esposa do Rei Willem-Alexander trouxe o Carnaval do Rio no seu vestido.

After a successful State Visit to Luxembourg, where Máxima brought us a great surrpesa, the Queen of the Netherlands decided to bet on discretion by choosing the Dutch Diamanod Bandeau  which was the perfect mirror with the diamond necklace she wore. But as we are talking about Maxima, the wife of King Willem-Alexander brought the Rio Carnival in her dress.

Liechtenstein

Uma agradável surpresa foi a presença do Príncipe Hereditário Alois e da Princesa Hereditária Sophie do Liechtenstein. Mais uma Fringe para a noite (coisa horrível, intragável , feia - NÃO!!!), embelezada com um fantástico vestido verde. Só foi pena os sapatinhos pretos. 

A pleasant surprise was the presence of the Hereditary Prince Alois and the Hereditary Princess Sophie of Liechtenstein. Another Fringe for the night (awful, unpalatable, ugly thing - NOT !!!), embellished with a fantastic green dress. The black shoes were a pitty on this look.

Luxemburgo / Luxembourg

Por falar na última visita de estado da semana, em representação do Luxemburgo, a Grã-Duquesa Maria Teresa parece ter-se inspirado no look de noite da Rainha Máxima no segundo dia de visita, e resolveu mostrar a todos que ela também consegue usar um vestido esvoaçante vermelho. Número 3 no meu top 4: Maria Teresa usando a Chaumet Diamond and Pearl Choker Tiara.

Speaking of the last state visit of the week, on behalf of Luxembourg, Grand Duchess Maria Teresa seems to have been inspired by Queen Máxima's evening look on the second day of the visit, and decided to show everyone that she can also use a red fluttering dress. Number 3 in my top 4: Maria Teresa using the Chaumet Diamond and Pearl Choker Tiara.

Noruega /Norway

A Princesa herdeira da Noruega pareceu querer provar-nos dois pontos de vista: 1) o vestido que tinha usado durante as celebrações do 80º aniversário do Rei Harald e da Rainha Sonja no ano passado era melhor do que tínhamos pensado à primeira vista; 2) usar a sua Diamond Daisy Tiara com o seu cabelo totalmente solto e achar que era um exemplo fantástico de penteado.

Mette-Marit, querida, NÃO!

The Crown Princess of Norway seemed to want to prove us two points of view: (1) the dress she had worn during the celebrations of King Harald and Queen Sonja's 80th birthday last year was better than we thought at first glance; 2) wear her Diamond Daisy Tiara with totally loose hair and believe that it was a fantastic example of hairstyle.

Suécia /Sweden

Da Suécia vieram dois casais. A Rainha Sílvia deslumbrou também em vermelho e trouxe-nos uma das tiaras suecas que vemos com menos frequência a Tiara de Rubis Edward VII. E esteve muito bem.

Two couples came from Sweden. Queen Silvia also dazzled in red and brought us one of the Swedish tiaras we see less often, aka, the Edward VII Ruby tiara. And she was very good.

A Princesa da Coroa Victoria da Suécia trouxe-nos um vestido floral e a Baden Fringe Tiara. O vestido é o mesmo que usou no Jantar oferecido pelo Rei para os laureados com o Prémio Nobel 2017...mas com mangas. E eu sinceramente não entendo a mudança. A tiara é uma das minhas favoritas, mas não gostei do penteado.

Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden brought us a floral dress and the Baden Fringe Tiara. The dress is the same one she wore at the King's Dinner for 2017 Nobel Prize Winners... but with sleeves. And I honestly do not understand the change. The tiara is one of my favorites, but I did not like the hairstyle.

Se estão a sentir falta de membros da realeza europeia como Espanha, Mónaco ou Reino Unido nesta festa, é porque ainda não percebem muito bem a natureza destas coisas. Este não é um evento de Estado e como tal não é imperativa a presença de todas as Casas Reais. Este evento está mais relacionado com os laços de amizade que unem, neste caso, o Príncipe da Coroa Frederik a outros membros da realeza mundial. E não temos (com certezas absolutas) como avaliar o grau de proximidade actual de Frederik com outras pessoas que não estiveram presentes. Na minha opinião é possível que alguém de Espanha tenha sido convidado, mas não temos como ter a certeza. De qualquer forma se querem ler outro ponto de vista, deixo-vos com um artigo do mais recente blogger real português. If you are missing members of European royalty like Spain, Monaco or UK at this party, it is because you still do not quite understand very well the nature of these things. This is not a state event and as such it is not imperative the presence of all the Royal Houses. This event is more related to the bonds of friendship that, in this case, unite the Crown Prince Frederik with other members of world royalty. And we do not have (with absolute certainties) how to evaluate Frederik's current degree of closeness to other people who were not present. In my opinion it is possible that someone from Spain was invited, but we can not be sure. E o que resta depois das tiaras e dos vestidos, meus amigos? Resta a emoção dos discursos.

A mãe do aniversariante foi a primeira a discursar. Podem ler o seu discurso na integra aqui. Um discurso que mostrou o orgulho de uma mãe no seu filho mais velho e em todos os seus feitos, tanto pessoais, como ao serviço da Dinamarca.

And what remains after the tiaras and the dresses, my friends? There remains the emotion of the speeches.

The mother of the birthday boy was the first to speak. You can read her full speech here. A speech that showed a mother's pride in her eldest son and in all his deeds, both personal and in the service of Denmark.

"Na segunda-feira passada fizeste com que toda a Dinamarca te acompanhasse na corrida. A tua avó teria ficado tão orgulhosa de ti e como eu gostaria que o Papá tivesse vivido o suficiente para celebrar o teu 50º aniversário, pois ele tinha, tal como eu, muito orgulho em ti. Ele também viu como desenvolveste os teus talentos ano após ano.
Quando encontraste Mary, um novo período da tua vida começou. Eram dois, depois três, depois quatro - na verdade, seis! Uma família que todos podem desfrutar e uma família que muitos têm o prazer de seguir e ver como exemplo. Tu e a Mary conseguiram criar uma vida familiar segura e calorosa enquanto vocês os dois juntos e individualmente assumem tarefas que os levam para lugares distantes.

A whole family that everybody can take pleasure in, and a family that many are pleased to follow and see themselves reflected in. You make me so happy!"

Seguiu-se a outra mulher da vida de Frederik. Mary fez um longo discurso. Um discurso emocionante, pessoal e com muitas notas de humor. Um discurso que foi de certa forma intimista, mas acima de tudo revelador do que este casal é. O discurso pode ser lido aqui na integra. 

Then followed the other woman in Frederik's life. Mary gave a long speech. An exhilarating speech, personal and with lots of humor notes. A speech that was somehow intimate, but above all revealing of what this couple is. The speech can be full read here.

A noite continuou com dança, uma dança que já vimos Mary e Fred muitas vezes dançar. Uma dança ensaiada. Mas quem olha de perto sabe que esta dança é a dança para as câmaras verem. Uma dança que nem sequer lhes é confortável. Uma dança que encarna um papel.
Imagino que a dança ideal deles seja ridícula, sem jeito, e com movimentos muito estranhos mas que os faz rir descontroladamente. Esses são a minha Mary e o meu Fred.
The evening continued with dancing, a dance that we have seen Mary and Fred often dance. A rehearsed dance. But whoever looks closely knows that this dance is for the camaras. A dance that is not even comfortable for them. A dance that embodies a role.
I imagine that their ideal dance is goofy, awkward, and with very strange movements but that makes them laugh uncontrollably. These are my real Mary & Fred.
