O casamento, inicialmente previsto para o dia 8 de Abril. teve que ser adiado 24h para que o Príncipe de Gales pudesse comparecer às cerimónias fúnebres do Papa João Paulo II. O dia foi dividido em duas cerimónias. A cerimónia civil decorreu em Windsor Guildhall. A noiva usou um conjunto marfim, que até hoje já reciclou várias vezes.
Charles e Camilla são irremediavelmente uma história de amor controversa. Mas, gostando ou não, são uma história de amor. Uma história de amor que resistiu ao tempo, a casamentos fracassados de ambas as partes, aos erros, aos escândalos, ao ódio de muitos, mas que finalmente culminou com a união oficial deste casal a 9 de Abril de 2005.
Charles and Camilla are, no doubt, a controversial love story. But whether you like it or not, it's a love story. A love story that stood the test of time, failed marriages on both sides, mistakes, scandals, hatred of many, but finally culminated in the official union of this couple on April 9, 2005.

The wedding, originally scheduled for April 8. had to be postponed 24 hours, for the Prince of Wales could attend the funeral ceremonies of Pope John Paul II. The day was divided into two ceremonies. The civil ceremony took place at Windsor Guildhall. The bride used an ivory set, which until today she has already recycled several times.

Uma nota simbólica: a noiva usou um broche com a insígnia do Príncipe de Gales. Por altura do casamento foi anunciado que Camilla, apesar de SER Princesa de Gales por casamento, iria responder pelo forma feminina do segundo título mais importante do marido - Duquesa da Cornualha.
A symbolic note: the bride wore a brooch bearing the insignia of the Prince of Wales. By marriage time it was announced that Camilla, despite BEING Princess of Wales by marriage, would be styled for the feminine form of her husband's second most important title - Duchess of Cornwall.

Na segunda parte da cerimónia, o casal recebeu a bênção religiosa na Capela de St. George no Castelo de Windsor, palco de dois casamentos reais este ano. O casamento teve a bênção da Igreja Anglicana e contou com a presença de vários membros da família real britânica, incluindo a Rainha e o Duque de Edimburgo, e obviamente os filhos dos dois membros do casal: o Príncipe William e o Príncipe Harry, filhos de Charles com a falecida Diana, Princesa de Gales e Tom e Laura Parker-Bowles, filhos de Camilla com Andrew Parker-Bowles.
In the second part of the ceremony, the couple received a religious blessing at St. George's Chapel at Windsor Castle, venue for two royal weddings this year. The marriage had the blessing of the Anglican Church and was attended by several members of the British royal family, including the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh, and obviously the children of the two members of the couple: Prince William and Prince Harry, sons of Charles with the late Diana, Princess of Wales and Tom and Laura Parker-Bowles, fruit of Camilla's union with Andrew Parker-Bowles.

Para o serviço religioso Camilla escolheu um look que a meu ver, é somente um dos mais bonitos looks de noiva de sempre. Na altura do casamento Camilla tinha 57 anos. Era divorciada e carregava aos ombros a desconfiança, antipatia e o peso associado ao casamento falhado de Charles e Diana. O seu look de noiva tinha que reflectir não apenas a maturidade da relação e das suas intenções, como também ser o virar de página para um novo capítulo da sua vida, sem deixar de ser, todavia, um look que marcasse o ponto alto da sua história de amor.
For the religious service Camilla chose a look that, in my opinion, is simply one of the most beautiful royal bridal looks ever. At the time of the wedding Camilla was 57 years old. She was divorced and carried the mistrust, dislike, and weight associated with Charles and Diana's failed marriage. Her bridal look had to reflect not only the maturity of the relationship and her intentions, but also to turn the page to a new chapter of her life, while still being a look that would mark the high point of her love story.

Camilla usou um simples vestido em chiffon azul. Por cima um casaco em damasco azul e ouro, com um leve bordado na gola, inspirado na colecção de jóias da mãe de Camilla, e com uma subtil cauda. Camilla não dispensou um discreto bouquet e, em vez de uma tiara, a nova Duquesa escolheu um toucado dourado.
Camilla wore a plain blue chiffon dress. On top she wpre a blue and gold damask coat, with a light embroidery on the collar, inspired by Camilla's mother's jewelry collection, and with a subtle tail. Camilla did not dispense a discreet bouquet, and instead of a tiara, the new Duchess chose a gold headdress.

Em 2005 eu não tinha muito acesso à imprensa britânica e este foi um casamento que eu não esperava, talvez muito influenciada por aquilo que se escrevia e chegava até mim em Portugal. Hoje consigo ver que se há família real que tem aprendido com os erros do passado é definitivamente o Clã Windsor.
In 2005 I did not have much access to the British press and this was a marriage that I did not expect, perhaps very much influenced by what was written and came to me in Portugal. Today I can see that if there is a royal family that has learned from the mistakes of the past it is definitely the Windsor Clan.

Camilla transformou-se numa mais valia para a Família Real sendo uma verdadeira parceira do seu marido e muito devota da instituição que representa e às organizações e causas que apoia.
Á luz do que sei hoje, esta união não foi surpreendente. Foi natural e foi definitivamente, após décadas, a coisa certa a fazer!
Camilla has become an asset to the Royal Family by being a true partner for her husband and very devoted to the institution she represents, and the organizations and causes she supports.
In light of what I know today, this union was not surprising. It was natural and was definitely, after decades, the right thing to do!

E se, internacionalmente Camilla ainda é uma persona non grata para muitos, no Reino Unido a opinião generalizada é que a Duquesa da Cornualha é uma boa representante da monarquia britânica e um dos membros mais simpáticos da família.
And if, internationally Camilla is still persona non grata for many, in the United Kingdom the widespread opinion is that the Duchess of Cornwall is a good representative of the British monarchy and one of the most pleasant members of the family.
