Confessem lá: já sentiam falta de um post T&T que incluísse tiaras, certo? Eu conheço-vos muito bem. Por isso hoje vamos ter com os Reis belgas ao Canadá.
You can confess there: you miss a T&T post that included tiaras, right? I know you very well. So today we are going to catch the belgian King and Queen in Canada!

Chegada e Dia 1 / Arrival and Day 1

A convite da Governadora Geral Julie Payette o Rei Philippe e a Rainha Mathilde da Bélgica começaram esta semana uma longa Visita de Estado ao Canadá com o objectivo de estreitar as relações entre os dois países. A visita inclui compromissos em Ottawa, Toronto e Montréal. O casal chegou a Ottawa no dia 11. A delegação belga nesta visita de estado é composta por 6 ministros, um secretário de estado, 125 empresários e presidentes executivos, 20 reitores de universidades, oficiais e imprensa, no total de 221 pessoas.
At the invitation of Governor-General Julie Payette, King Philippe and Queen Mathilde of Belgium this week began a long State Visit to Canada with the aim of strengthening relations between the two countries. The visit includes appointments in Ottawa, Toronto and Montréal. The couple arrived in Ottawa on the 11st. The Belgian delegation on this state visit is composed of 6 ministers, a secretary of state, 125 businessmen and CEO's, 20 university rectors, officers and press, for a total of 221 people.

No dia seguinte o casal real belga foi oficialmente recebido em Rideau Hall, a residência oficial da Governadores Gerais do Canadá, pela nova Governadora Julie Payette, que governa em representação da Rainha Elizabeth II do Reino Unido desde o passado mês de Outubro. A cerimónia oficial de boas-vindas incluiu um passeio de carruagem.
The next day the Belgian royal couple was officially welcomed at Rideau Hall, the official residence of the Governors General of Canada, by the new Governor Julie Payette, who has governed on behalf of Queen Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom since last October. The official welcome ceremony included a carriage ride.

De seguida, e de acordo com uma longa tradição, Philippe e Mathilde plantaram um árvore e depositaram uma coroa de flores no Monumento ao Soldado desconhecido, simbolizando a ligação ao solo e a gratidão por aqueles a quem devemos o que hoje somos.
Then, according to a long tradition, Philippe and Mathilde planted a tree and laid a wreath at the Monument to the Unknown Soldier, symbolizing the connection to the soil and gratitude to those to whom we owe what we are today.

Mathilde prestou homenagem às cores da bandeira canadiana e os chapéus usados pela guarda canadiana e esteve muito bem.
Mathilde paid tribute to the colors of the Canadian flag and the hats worn by the Canadian guard and did very well.

Durante a tarde os monarcas belgas puderam explorar um pouco mais daquilo que o Canadá tem para oferecer de mais doce. Durante uma visita ao Parque Richelieu, Philippe e Mathilde provaram xarope de bordo ou Acer (árvore símbolo do Canadá) e chupa-chupas e aprenderam mais sobre as técnicas  centenárias de colheita.
During the afternoon the Belgian monarchs were able to explore a little more of what Canada has to offer on...candy. During a visit to the Richelieu Park, Philippe and Mathilde tasted maple syrup (Canadian symbol tree) and lollipops and learned more about centuries-old harvesting techniques.

De noite a Governadora-Geral do Canadá ofereceu um Jantar de Estado em homenagem ao Rei e Rainha da Bélgica.
At night the Governor General of Canada offered a State Dinner in honor of the King and Queen of Belgium.

Discursos foram pronunciados,presentes foram trocados, brindes foram feitos e tiaras foram usadas, minha gente! Ou melhor, tiara, no singular. Mathilde arrasou num vestido reciclado bordeaux da autoria de uma dos melhores amigos de Máxima: Jan Taminiau. A Rainha Belga usou a Tiara Laureal Wreath.
Speeches were pronounced, gifts were changed, toast were made and tiaras were used, people! Or rather, tiara, in the singular. Mathilde wore a recycled gorgeous Bordeaux dress by one of Maxima's best friends: Jan Taminiau. The Belgian Queen wore the Laureal Wreath tiara.

Dia / Day 2

O segundo dia de visita começou com um seminário sobre educação multilingue na Universidade de Ottawa. O Rei Philippe, durante a sua intervenção reforçou que " Aprender uma língua é sinónimo de desenvolvimento pessoal. As universidades são os locais ideais para as nossas mentes se expandirem. Ao adicionarem várias línguas ao caldeirão de ideias fervilhantes, como está a ser feito aqui na Universidade de Ottawa, vocês estão a preparar os vossos estudantes para melhor entenderem o mundo."
The second day of the visit began with a seminar on multilingual education at the University of Ottawa. King Philippe, during his speech, stressed that “Learning a language is synonymous with self-development. Universities are the ideal places for our minds to expand. By adding the provision of languages to the melting pot of ideas, as you do here at the University of Ottawa, you are preparing your students to better understand the world.”

De seguida o casal real visitou o Museu Canadiano de Guerra que comemora este ano o centenário do fim da primeira guerra mundial. Durante esta visita uma reflexão: " "É vital confrontar o nosso passado em toda a sua complexidade, examinar as acções dos nossos antepassados na íntegra, sem fazer generalizações precipitadas, sem slogans fáceis, resistindo a qualquer tentação de simplificar. Somente desta maneira a nossa memória colectiva pode ser pacificada gradualmente ".
Then the royal couple visited the Canadian War Museum which celebrates this year the centenary of the end of the First World War. During this visit a reflection:“It is vital to confront our past in all its complexity, to scrutinise the actions of our forebears in their entirety, without making hasty generalisations, without easy slogans, resisting any temptation to simplify. Only in this way can our collective memory gradually be pacified.”

Mais tarde durante uma visita ao Museu Canadiano da Natureza, o casal real belga foi recebido pelo Chefe Georges MacKenzie do Governo Tlicho que partilhou com Philippe e Mathilde informações sobre o processo tradicional de extracção de diamantes e preservação da Natureza.
Later at the Canadian Museum of Nature the belgian royal couple was welcomed by First Nation chief Georges MacKenzie of the Tlicho government. He shared some informations with Philippe and Mathilde about traditional diamond mining techniques & nature preservation.

No segundo dia, Mathilde continuou a usar a diplomacia através das suas escolhas de vestuário onde o grande destaque foi para o toucado onde a folha de bordo vermelha está representada.
On the second day, Mathilde continued to use diplomacy through her clothing choices where the main highlight was the headdress where the red maple leaf is represented.

    Sei que por que tenho preferência por Mathilde, acabo sendo tendenciosa
    em minhas opiniões, mas penso que desde sua chegada até o presente
    momento, ela tem se mantido maravilhosa!! Achei-a belíssima de azul marinho
    ao descer do avião e deslumbrante no Jantar de Estado!! Aquele vestido
    ressaltou imensamente a sua beleza e classe!!
