Visita de Estado da Islândia à Noruega - Dia 1 / State Visit from Iceland to Norway - Day 1

And we're back to the first of many state visits that March brings us. But do not get too excited because it was in Norway.

{By the way, it was really interesting that the people who run the social networks of the Royal Palace in Oslo went a little harder to provide quality media (aka photos) that we could use ... Just an idea}.

Do you remember the nice presidential couple of Iceland, Guðni Th. Jóhannesson and Eliza Reid? Well, they returned to Scandinavia for a three-day State Visit to Norway at the invitation of King Harald V. The visit aims to strengthen the common heritage between the two countries and to bring more development and cooperation in culture, education, research and innovation.

The President and First Lady were officially received by King Harald V and Queen Sonja, accompanied by Crown Prince Haakon and Crown Princess Mette-Marit of Norway on the courtyard of the Royal Palace in Oslo.

The two heads of state inspected the Royal Guard and the athems of the two countries were played. In the interior of the Palace an official group photograph was taken with also Princess Astrid, the King's sister.

What can I comment on the ladies' outfit? Well, the First Lady of Iceland shows once again that she is a very practical and relaxed woman. Queen Sonja chose a red flame coat that might have come out of Letizia's closet, but that seemed to be several numbers above her own. Mette-Marit looked lovely in a color that suited her, but her new coat seemed too tight. Pitty ...Astrid, well....she is Astrid!

During the day, several engagements followed which included a presentation of a Norwegian literature project Icelandic-led for Frankfurt Fair 2019 and a seminar and panel discussion on gender equality in the workplace.

In the evening the King and Queen offered a state dinner for 184 guests in honor of their visitors.

Crown Princess Mette-Marit wore .... something similar to a dress that completed with her Daisy Tiara based on a non-existent hairstyle. If, on the one hand, MM took a bed cover as a dress, Astrid took a curtain. A very home-decor dinner!

I said do not get too excited ... I think it will be safe to say (!!) that we have the worst look of the year for our Snow Princess. And I do not like to say that!

  2. Glory be! What was MM thinking? She is such a lovely woman - what a pity her sense of style lets her down so badly. I have seen this appearance descrbed as Easter Egg, and other things, but I think Bedcover is the most accurate. Why does not her husband have a little word with her?

    1. Hello Barbara. Nice to "read" you again! Thanks for your comment. Well, maybe Haakon loves his wife just the way she is! :) And maybe she feels fine with this dress. That's the most important, after all, even when most of the people didn't like it. AT ALL!! :)
