Uma Holanda virada para o Reconhecimento e Inovação / Netherlands embraces recognition and innovation
Ontem história também se fez na Holanda. O Rei Willem-Alexander tornou-se o primeiro monarca a visitar oficialmente uma organização que defende os direitos e apoia a comunidade de lésbicas, gays, bissexuais e transgéneros (LGBT).
Yesterday history was also made in the Netherlands. King Willem-Alexander became the first monarch to officially visit a rights-based organization that supports the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) community.
A COC Nederland foi fundada em 1946 e foca a sua acção na descriminalização da orientação sexual e identidade de género e promoção da igualdade de direitos, emancipação e aceitação social da comunidade LGBT na Holanda e em todo o mundo. Esta organização é das poucas do género com estatuto de consultoria nas Nações Unidas.
Founded in 1946 COC Nederland strives for the decriminalization of sexual orientation and gender identity and for equal rights, emancipation and social acceptance of LGBT’s in the Netherlands and all over the world. COC is one of the few LGBT organizations that has a special consultative status with the United Nations.
A COC Nederland celebra o seu 70º aniversário e o Rei Willem-Alexander tomou parte nas celebrações. WA conversou com pessoas das várias faixas etárias apoiados por esta organização que lhe contaram as suas experiências, bem como com voluntários e funcionários do COC Nederland. Pode parecer que já vivemos num mundo que aceita os membros desta comunidade. Isso não é verdade! E acima de tudo há uma grande diferença entre aceitar e reconhecer!
COC Nederland celebrates its 70th anniversary and King Willem-Alexander took part in the celebrations. WA spoke with people from various age groups supported by this organization who told him about their experiences as well as with volunteers and staff from COC Nederland.

A Rainha consorte da Holanda visitou a o laboratório de investigação e desenvolvimento do Centro de Reabilitação Roessingh. Este centro foca-se no estudo e desenvolvimento de tecnologia aplicado à reabilitação. Máxima teve a oportunidade de falar com os investigadores e um fisioterapeuta mostrou-lhe como desenvolvimentos inovadores no campo da robótica, realidade virtual e telemedicina são utilizados no processo de reabilitação.
The Queen Consort of the Netherlands visited the research and development laboratory of the Roessingh Rehabilitation Center. This center focuses on the study and development of technology applied to rehabilitation. Maxima had the opportunity to speak with the researchers and a physiotherapist showed her how innovative developments in the field of robotics, virtual reality and telemedicine are used in the rehabilitation process.
A Rainha assistiu a uma demonstração no laboratório de análise de marcha, onde se procura avaliar as capacidades físicas bem como sinalizar as limitações das pessoas.
The Queen attended a demonstration in the gait analysis lab, which seeks to assess physical abilities as well as flagging people's limitations.
Máxima foi ainda apresentada a uma luva robótica que pode ser usada na execução de tarefas diárias por pessoas que tenham perdido funcionalidade de uma mão na sequência, por exemplo, de uma acidente vascular cerebral ou de um acidente.
Maxima was also presented to a robotic glove that can be used to perform daily tasks by people who have lost one-hand functionality following, for example, a stroke or an accident.
Durante este encontro foi ainda discutido como é que esta área de pesquisa pode ir de encontro aos interesses da sociedade e de que modo podem ser estabelecidas parecerias ente universidades e indústria para a aplicação comercial destas inovações. A Rainha teve ainda a oportunidade de falar com vários utentes que estão a beneficiar dos conhecimentos deste grupo de desenvolvimento e investigação.
During this meeting it was also discussed how this area of research can meet the interests of society and how partnerships can be established between universities and industry for the commercial application of these innovations. The Queen also had the opportunity to speak to several users who are benefiting from the expertise of this development and research group.
