Realeza apoia os Atletas Paralímpicos para Rio2016 / Royals support Paralympic athletes for Rio2016
Os Jogos Paralímpicos do Rio começam hoje, e embora sejam menos noticiados, o T&T orgulha-se destes atletas que através do desporto, superaram as suas aparentes limitações e nos mostram que quando existe vontade, tudo é possível.
The Paralympic Games in Rio start today, though less publicized, the T & T is proud of these athletes, whom through sport, exceeded their apparent limitations and show us that when there is a will, everything is possible.
São também várias as caras reais que à semelhança do que aconteceu nos Jogos Olímpicos de Verão, têm enviado mensagens de apoio a estes atletas tão especiais.
Also there are several royals who, just like what happened in the Summer Olympics, have sent support messages to these so special athletes .
O Príncipe Harry de Gales enviou uma mensagem muito especial, na qualidade de Patrono da Fundação Invictus Games, a apoiar os ex-combatentes de Guerra apoiados por esta Fundação e que foram seleccionados para os Jogos:
Prince Harry of Wales sent a very special message, as Patron of the Invictus Games Foundation, to support former combatants of war supported by the Foundation who were selected for the Games:
"Lembro-me de assistir a estes atletas a competirem nos Invictus Games em 2014 e 2016. E agora foram seleccionados para os Jogos Paralímpicos do Rio. Não consigo pensar num melhor exemplo de mostrar o que o desporto pode fazer pela recuperação. Eu sei que irão competir com o mesmo espírito Invictus que vimos em Londres e Orlando - motivados não só pela vitória, mas também pela superação dos seus corpos e mentes até ao limite para provar a todo o mundo que existe vida depois de uma lesão. Eles irão levantar a moral de todos os que assistirem aos Jogos no Rio ou pela TV por todo o mundo, e irão inspirar-vos. Estou incrivelmente orgulhoso de tudo o que vocês atingiram e vou apoiar cada atleta em competição durante os Jogos."
“I remember watching these competitors at the 2014 and 2016 Invictus Games. And now they’ve been selected for the Rio Paralympic Games. I can’t think of a better example of showing how important sport can be for recovery. I know they’ll compete with the same Invictus spirit that we saw in London and Orlando – motivated not just by winning, but by pushing their bodies and minds to the absolute limit to prove to the world there is life beyond injury. They will lift everyone around them and whether you’re watching in Rio or on TV around the world, they will inspire you. I’m incredibly proud of what they’ve achieved and will be cheering on every single competitor during the Games.”

Harry fez ainda uma doação pessoal para a campanha #FillTheSeats que torna possível que várias crianças do Rio assistam de forma gratuita aos Jogos Paralímpicos nas bancadas da arena olímpica. A campanha já conta actualmente com $200.000 doados.
Harry also made a personal donation to the #FillTheSeats campaign that makes it possible for several children from Rio to attend the Games for free on the stands of the Olympic arena. The campaign has reached $ 200,000 donated.
A família real britânica será representada nos Paralímpicos, pelo Earl de Wessex, Patrono da Federação Paralímpica Britânica.
The British royal family will be represented at the Paralympics, by the Earl of Wessex, Patron of the British Paralympic Association.
Da Bélgica, os atletas paralímpicos contaram com um apoio muito especial: num placard com várias assinaturas com destaque para as assinaturas dos quatro filhos do Rei Philippe e da Rainha Mathilde.
From Belgium, the Paralympic athletes had a very special support: a placard with several signatures, including the ones from the four children of King Philippe and Queen Mathilde.
A Bélgica será representada pela Princesa Astrid e pelo Príncipe Lorenz.

Na Suécia também a Princesa da Coroa Victoria posou com os atletas que irão defender as cores Suecas nestes Jogos.

Por cá a Comitiva Paralímpica de Portugal conta com 37 atletas que competirão em 7 modalidades: atletismo, boccia, ciclismo, equitação, judo, natação e tiro.
In here the Paralympic Delegation of Portugal has 37 athletes who will compete in 7 events: athletics, boccia, cycling, horse riding, judo, swimming and shooting.
