Acho que já é tempo de falarmos desta peça que se converteu na tiara favorita da actual Rainha de Espanha, pelo menos no seu primeiro ano de Reinado. E começa a tornar-se fácil perceber porquê.

Spanish (Mellerio) Floral Tiara
Existem duas teorias para a origem desta tiara. A mais conhecida diz-nos que esta tiara terá sido encomenda aos famosos joalheiros Mellerio dits Meller na segunda metade do séc. XIX. Daí o seu nome. No entanto em 2013, surgiu a ideia de que esta peça tenha na realidade sido encomendada pelo Rei Alfonso XII aos joelheiros britânicos J.P. Collins em 1879 como presente para a sua esposa Maria Cristina da Austria. A peça teria sido mais tarde comprada pelo joalheiro madrileno Aldao.

O certo é que esta tiara foi adquirida pelo General Franco e oferecida à Princesa Sofia da Grécia e Dinamarca por ocasião do seu noivado com o Infante Juan Carlos de Bourbon em 1962. Juan Carlos seria nomeado sucessor de Franco, e reinaria mais tarde com o nome de Juan Carlos I.
