A Rainha Elizabeth II visitou ontem a Itália, onde se encontrou com o Presidente Georgio Napolitano. Mas o ponto alvo da visita foi o encontro com o Papa Francisco, naquele que foi o primeiro encontro da soberana com o Chefe da Igreja Católica.

Acompanhada pelo Duque de Edimburgo, a Rainha e Chefe da Igreja Anglicana do Reino Unido manteve a sua tradição de encontros muito simbólicos com líderes católicos.

The Queen Elizabeth II yesterday visited Italy, where she met with President Giorgio Napolitano. But the goal of the visit was the meeting with the Pope Francis, in what was the first meeting of the sovereign with the Head of the Catholic Church. 

Accompanied by the Duke of Edinburgh, the Queen and Head of the Anglican Church in the UK has maintained the tradition of very symbolic encounters with Catholic leaders.

Hoje trago-vos não um filme, mas duas partes de um documentário sobre o Rei Henry VIII de Inglaterra. Aquele, cuja vida, paixão e capricho levou ao corte entre Inglaterra e Roma e à reforma da Igreja em Inglaterra causando uma disputa e divergências de séculos entre católicos e protestantes no Reino Unido. E que ainda hoje se sentem nomeadamente nas regiões da Escócia e Irlanda do Norte.

Today I bring you not a film, but three parts of a documentary about King Henry VIII of England. One whose life, passion and caprice led to the break between England and Rome, and the reform of the Church in England causing a dispute and differences of centuries between Catholics and Protestants in the UK. And its consequences are still very present today in the catholics regions of Scotland and Northern Ireland.
