Muitas vezes ficamos surpreendidos com a versatilidade de várias tiaras com peças amovíveis. São vários os exemplos de tiaras cujas peças centrais podem ser retiradas e usadas como broches, ou que permitem que várias pedras sejam substituídas o que faz com que numa mesma tiara, possamos obter vários resultados finais diferentes.

Many times we are surprised by the versatility of several tiaras with removable pieces. There are several examples of tiaras whose centerpieces can be removed and used as brooches, or allow to replace several stones which makes from one single tiara, several different final results.

Por outro lado, muitas vezes choca-nos o facto de algumas peças serem totalmente desmanteladas para darem origem a outras. Por gosto pessoal, ou por necessidade, a verdade é que regra geral, achamos sempre uma atrocidade a tal feito.

Hoje trago-vos um exemplo de uma peça que tendo sido desmantelada, o resultado final, a meu ver, é bem melhor que o original.

Há quase dois meses que quero falar dela, mais precisamente desde o último Prinsjesdag na Holanda.

On the other hand, often shock us the fact that some jewelery pieces are totally dismantled to give rise to another. For personal taste, or of necessity, the truth is that in a general rule, we always think about that as an atrocity.

Today I bring you an example of a piece that has been dismantled, and yet the final result, in my opinion, is much better than the original.

I want to talk about it, for almost two mothes now,  more precisely since the last Prinsjesdag in the Netherlands.

Conjunto de Diamantes Borneo / Borneo Diamond Set

A rainha Wilhelmina recebeu, aquando da sua inauguração como Rainha, uma tiara de ouro e diamantes, oferta do Sultão do Kutai. Inicialmente a base em ouro da tiara com duas fileiras de diamantes era adornada no topo com cinco ornamentos florais removíveis em ouro e diamantes.

Queen Wilhelmina received, after her inauguration as Queen, a tiara of gold and diamonds, offering from the Sultan of Kutai. Initially the golden tiara had two rows of diamonds on the bases and on the top was adorned with five removable floral ornaments in gold and diamonds.

Esta tiara foi encomendada ao joalheiro Van Arcken & Co em Batavia, na altura parte das Índias Holandesas do Este (Indonésia) e teve como inspiração relevos relativos a uma deusa hindu encontrados nos templos antigos de Java. O ouro e diamantes eram provenientes do Borneo.

Os cinco ornamentos amovíveis podiam ser usados como pentes para o cabelo.

Tirando uma fotografia não existe evidência de que Wilhelmina terá usado esta tiara na sua forma original mais do que uma vez.

O que se sabe é que por volta da década de 60, a tiara foi desmantelada e os cinco ornamentos transformaram-se num versátil conjunto de broches, pendentes ou brincos. 
This tiara was commissioned to the jeweler Van Arcken & Co in Batavia, at the time part of the Netherlands East Indies (Indonesia) and was inspired by a Hindu goddess's reliefs found in the ancient temples of Java. Gold and diamonds were from Borneo.
The five removable ornaments could be used as hair combs.
One picture apart (abive) there is no evidence that Wilhelmina have used this tiara in its original form more than once.
What is known is that around the 60's, the tiara was dismantled and the five ornaments became a versatile set of brooches, pendant and earrings.

Tudo indica que as fileiras de diamantes que assentavam na base da tiara foram também removidas e transformadas numa pulseira.
Everything indicates that the rows of diamonds that sat at the base of the tiara were also removed and turned into a bracelet.

Do conjunto fazem parte um par de brincos longos constituídos por duas peças (que podem funcionar separadamente como brincos mais pequenos e broches), uma pulseira de três fileiras de diamantes a a peça central da tiara que foi transformada em broche.
Are part of the set a pair of long earrings made ​​of two pieces (which can function separately as smaller earrings and brooches), a bracelet  with three rows of diamond, and the old tiara centerpiece , that  was converted into a brooch.

Pensa-se que este conjunto terá sido feito especialmente para a Princesa Beatrix que foi a única a usá-lo durante muito tempo. Nos anos mais recentes também as princesas Laurentien e Maxima usaram o conjunto, sendo que esta última usou a versão completa no casamento real do Luxemburgo em 2012, num visual que foi dos mais comentados do dia e do ano 2012.
It is thought that this set has been specially made for Princess Beatrix, that was the only one to wore it for a long time. In recent years also princesses Laurentien and  Maxima wore it. Crown Princess Maxima wore the whole set at the Royal Wedding of Luxembourg in 2012, in one of the most  commented look of the day and of the year 2012.

 Máxima (ainda princesa) usando os longos brincos, a pulseira e o broche na cintura (à esquerda) e recentemente usando os mesmos brincos e o broche segurando a faixa no último Prinsjesdag (à diretia).

Após a abdicação de Beatrix , no primeiro Prinsjesdag a que compareceu como Rainha, Maxima voltou a eleger o conjunto Borneo.
After the abdication of Beatrix, at the first Prinsjesdag she attended as Queen, Maxima elected once again the Borneo diamond set.
