Best of 2018 - Mary

Foi um ano difícil para a família real dinamarquesa com a morte do Príncipe Henrik em Fevereiro. Mas se há coisa que esta família não abdica é da felicidade e as celebrações dos 50 anos do Príncipe da Coroa Frederik deram-nos muitas alegrias e isso incluiu grandes momentos para a nossa Mary que, em mais um ano, me arranca sorrisos (e suspiros) em praticamente todas as aparições.
It was a difficult year for the Danish royal family with the death of Prince Henrik in February. But if there is one thing that this family does not abdicate is happiness and the celebrations of the 50th birthday of Crown Prince Frederik have given us many joys and this included great moments for our Mary who, in another year, takes me many smiles (and sighs) in practically every apparition.

I omgivelser designet af den finske arkitekt Alvar Aalto i Helsinki holdt H.K.H. Kronprinsessen her til aften hovedtalen ved den officielle middag, der fejrer de 100-års diplomatiske forbindelser mellem Danmark og Finland. I talen, der fandt sted under det danske erhvervs- og kulturfremstød i Finland, sagde Hendes Kongelige Højhed blandt andet: “Finland and Denmark can be among the pioneers to set an example by advancing collaboration, innovation and synergy in the Nordic region.” I morgen fortsætter Kronprinsessen sit besøg i Finland i byen Turku på den finske vestkyst, der er højborg for den maritime industri. 📸 Keld Navntoft, Ritzau Scanpix ©️

O meu cérebro entra sempre em curto circuito ao rever os looks da Mary para esta categoria. E, dado que sou epiléptica, é um risco. Mas é um risco de saúde que estou disposta a correr, porque fico sempre maravilhada. E se pudesse (bem, na realidade eu posso porque é o meu blog, mas ia ficar um estranho e injusto, certo?) colocava três looks aqui a par de igualdade. Mas escolho este, porque não há como resistir a esta foto...E à saia. E à blusa. E ao cabelo...Oh pá, não dá para resistir a Mary, ponto final. Já agora os outros dois são este e este.

My brain is always electrocuted when reviewing Mary's looks for this category. And since I'm epileptic, that's a risk. But it is a health risk that I am willing to take, because I am always amazed. And if I could (well, actually I can, because it's my blog, but it will be a little unfair, don't you think?), I would call three winners for this category. So I choose this, because there is no way to resist this photo ... And the skirt. And the blouse. And the hair ... Oh man, you can not resist Mary, period. By the way, the other two are this and this.

E depois há esta categoria para a qual, geralmente, é preciso puxar muito pela imaginação quando falamos de Mary. Porque até neste caso, em que o vestido não é bonito nem favorecedor, não conseguimos deixar de esboçar um sorriso com a escolha de acessórios roxos e a combinação entre roupa e as cores do bouquet.

And then there is this category to which we usually have to pull a lot of imagination when we talk about Mary. I to dage har H.K.H. Kronprinsessen været i det østafrikanske land Kenya. Her har Hendes Kongelige Højhed besøgt en række projekter og organisationer, der arbejder med at forbedre piger og kvinders rettigheder. Under besøget i den nordlige del af Kenya mødte Kronprinsessen blandt andet organisationen Northern Rangland Trust (NRT), der er støttet af DANIDA, og som arbejder for at styrke kvinder i fattige patriarkalske nomadesamfund. Det gør de ved at inddrage piger og kvinder i driften af vildtreservaterne. Arbejdet har resulteret i at flere piger har fået adgang til uddannelse og færre piger er blevet omskåret og indgår i børneægteskaber. Não é novidade para ninguém que adoro um bom traje nacional. Este ano Mary e a sua família deslumbraram nas Ilhas Faroe com os fantásticos trajes típicos deste território ultramar da Dinamarca. Mas o meu fascínio aumenta substancialmente quando trajes nacionais são usados em visitas humanitárias ao estrangeiro, como foi o caso da recente visita que Mary levou a cabo ao Quénia. É outro nível...

It's no news to anyone that I love a good national costume. This year Mary and her family dazzled in the Faroe Islands with the fantastic national costumes typical of this overseas danish territory. But my fascination increases substantially when national costumes are used for humanitarian visits abroad, as was the case with Mary's recent visit to Kenya. It's other level...
