Rainha Margrethe celebra 73º Aniversário/ Queen Margrethe celebrates 73th Birthday

A Rainha da Dinamarca celebrou o seu aniversário. Nascida em Copenhaga a 16 de Abril de 1940, Margrethe, filha mais velha do Príncipe da Coroa Frederik (mais tarde Rei Frederik IX) e da Princesa Ingrid (nascida Princesa Ingrid da Suécia). Baptizada com o nome completo de Margrethe Alexandrine Þórhildur Ingrid,  Margrethe não nasceu para ser monarca. Apesar de ser a filha mais velha do então príncipe herdeiro, na data de seu nascimento apenas homens poderiam ascender ao trono dinamarquês. Como ela não possuía irmãos o trono passaria para seu tio, o príncipe Canuto.

The Queen of Denmark celebrated today her birthday. Born in Copenhagen on April 16th of 1940, Margrethe, the eldest daughter of Crown Prince Frederik (later King Frederik IX) and Princess Ingrid (born Princess Ingrid of Sweden). Named Margrethe Alexandrine Þórhildur Ingrid,  Margrethe was not born to be queen. Despite being the eldest daughter of the then Crown Prince, on the date of her birth only men could ascend the Danish throne. As she had no brothers the throne should pass to her uncle, Prince Canute.

O processo de mudança da Constituição começou em 1947, devido principalmente à popularidade do rei Frederico IX e suas filhas, e da maior integração das mulheres na sociedade dinamarquesa.

The process of changing the Constitution started in 1947, mainly due to the popularity of King Frederick IX and his daughters, and the greater integration of women in the Danish society.

A lei de Sucessão de 27 de Março de 1953 é aprovada por referendo, dando às mulheres o direito de sucessão ao trono dinamarquês, mas apenas se não tivessem nenhum irmão homem, o qual foi o caso de Margrethe. Por ocasião da coroação e subida ao trono em 14 de Janeiro de 1972, após a morte do seu pai, a rainha Margrethe II tornou-se a primeira governante dinamarquesa sob a nova Lei de Sucessão.

The Act of Succession of March 27th 1953 is approved by referendum, giving women the right of succession to the Danish throne, but only if they had no male brothers, which was the Margrethe's case. On the occasion of the coronation and accession to the throne on January 14th , 1972, after the death of her father, Queen Margrethe II became the first ruler under the new Danish Act of Succession.

Como é hábito no dia do seu aniversario a Rainha juntamente com o Príncipe Henrik apareceu ao balcão do palácio Amalienborg para receber os votos de Feliz Aniversário do povo dinamarquês. Presentes também estiveram os Príncipes Frederik e Joachim com as respectivas famílias.

As usual on the day of her birthday,  the Queen along with Prince Henrik appeared on the balcony of Amalienborg Palace to receive the votes of Happy Birthday from the Danish people. Also present were the Princes Frederik and Joachim with their families.
