Today I bring you a piece of the Ducal House of Luxembourg.
A beautiful and elegant piece that can be used in many ways and that given its size stands out in each photograph.

Nassau Diamond Rose Corsage Brooch

This piece was commissioned in 1859 to the jeweler Jacon Speltz. Originally this stunning corsage brooch was part of a set of three floral brooches, each with various old cut diamonds belonging to the Nassau-Weilburg familly collection. In 1896 the Grand Duchess Marie-Adelheid of Luxembourg decided to keep only the larger brooch and dismantle the little ones to do other jewels.
The piece is not used very often, given its volume, but still makes a few appearances in important occasions, and it is the largest brooch Grand Ducal collection, representing a rose surrounded by leaves.

The successors of Adelheid-Marie have used the floral brooch in official portraits and special occasions.
Charlotte (r.1919-1964)
Josephine-Charlotte (r.1964-2000)
Maria-Teresa (r. 2000-   )
Maria-Teresa, the current Grand Duchess of Luxembourg seems to have made a few more minor changes to the brooch and used it once to the waist.

Eu gosto muito. E vocês?
I like it a lot. And about you?
